Prospective Sonography Students

Interview tips:

Mock Interviews - Check out the career center at your school! They may offer mock interviews or other interview resources. You can also ask a friend to run through a few interview questions with you. We also provide mock interviewing and one-on-one mentorship!

Interview content- Programs may ask you traditional job interview questions like “tell us about yourself” or “what are your strengths and weaknesses?” They may also ask more sonography-specific questions about why you are interested in this particular program, or this field in general. This is a place to show that you did your research and you know what you're getting yourself into!

STAR method- Some programs may ask behavior-based questions during the interview process to see how you have tackled challenging situations in the past. The STAR method can help you structure your response. A good overview can be found here:

How to be a competitive applicant:

The popularity of sonography programs is on the rise with more and more applicants each year. Something we are seeing in our mentees who are reapplicants, or those who are not getting in on the first try is a less competitive GPA. Make sure you have a strong prerequisite GPA! This will serve as a foundation to make sure you are on the same playing field as your fellow applicants and your other application materials are a cherry on top! Look into what the considerations are for your specific program. Some schools will exclusively use GPA for admissions, whereas other programs use a holistic approach where GPA is weighted differently.

Choosing a program:

Make sure your program is CAHEP accredited!
